Academic Excellence Scholarships for Newark students

These four (4) scholarships of $1000 each are awarded to juniors who are majoring in SCMS, have shown leadership skills and are interested in supporting and helping grow the SCMS major at Rutgers University.  To apply for this scholarship, students must provide:  1-2 page essay on their qualifications and why they feel they should receive the scholarship, a resume and a letter of recommendation.  Applications will be accepted starting November 1, 2011 and the deadline is November 30, 2011.  Submit this application to Professor Goldsworthy.  

 

Alfred J. Battaglia Memorial Fellowship

Alfred J. Battaglia, a former Becton Dickinson executive, was a driving force behind the creation of Rutgers' Supply Chain Management program. After his death, his family, faculty, friends at the school, and colleagues at Becton Dickinson created this fellowship to provide financial assistance to graduate students enrolled in the program. This fellowship is awarded each spring to MBA and/or Ph.D. students enrolled in the Supply Chain Management program and is based on academic merit and the recommendation of faculty members.

 

Chancellor’s Scholarship for Newark campus Minority Leadership in SCM

These three (3) scholarships of $2000 each will be awarded to our best and most promising minority students who excel in their pursuit of a supply chain management degree.To apply for this scholarship, students must provide:  1-2 page essay on their qualifications and why they feel they should receive the scholarship, a resume and a letter of recommendation. Applications should be submitted to Dorothy Torres with hard copy in 1WP room 980, or via e mail at dtorres@andromeda.rutgers.edu. This scholarship is provided to students in their junior year whose major is SCMS.  Applications will be accepted starting October 1 and the deadline is October 30. Winners will be announced in December. 

 

Corporate Honors Track Scholarships      

The Rutgers Business School (RBS) and the Supply Chain Management and Marketing Sciences Department (SCMMS) are fortunate to have tremendous support from the New Jersey and surrounding business community.  Several corporations offer “Honors Track Scholarships” to students who have declared SCMMS as a major and meet the eligibility guidelines. The Program recognizes and rewards the best students by providing a $2,000 scholarship and a summer internship from one of the Program’s corporate sponsors.  There are about 14 such scholarships available. Corporations that have offered scholarships since the inception of the SCMMS major in 2009 include the following:

  • Astra Zeneca
  • Johnson & Johnson
  • L’Oreal
  • Novartis
  • Panasonic
  • PSEG
  • IFF
  • BMS
  • Rutgers Procurement                     

RBS undergraduate students who have declared SCMS as a major are eligible to apply for the Honors Track Scholarships. The scholarships are merit based. The application procedure is outlined below:

Student applications must be submitted no later than October 15, 2011 to Jacqueline Perkel-Joseph at jperkel@business.rutgers.edu.

Applications must include the following:

  • Cover letter outlining qualifications and describing your interest in supply chain management and marketing science
  • Current Resume
  • One independent letter of recommendation from a Rutgers professor sent electronically to Jacqueline Perkel-Joseph or delivered in sealed envelope

A committee of RBS faculty will review the applications and select a panel of finalists. Criteria for selection will include:

  • Academic record
  • Clarity of expressed interest in SCMS
  • Leadership
  • Related work experience (desired but not mandatory)

The applications from the finalist panel will be submitted to the sponsoring corporations for selection of the scholarship awardees. Based on the internal procedures from the sponsoring corporations, finalist may be required to interview with the corporation.

The sponsoring corporations will make the final selection.

Awards Information

The scholarships will be applied as follows: one half of the scholarship to the fall 2012 semester; the remainder to the spring 2013 semester.

Council of Supply Chain Management (CSCMP)

This professional organization, offers annual scholarships to SCM students. In the last two years, Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) in New Jersey has awarded over 14 Scholarships worth over $10,000 to Rutgers Business School Supply Chain Management Students and 4 of those students have attended the National CSCMP Meetings all travel expenses paid by CSCMP.   Watch for announcements for the application process during the spring semester, typically in March.

 

Institute for Supply Management Scholarships

This professional organization offers annual scholarships to SCMS students.  The number of scholarships vary from year to year, typically from 2-4 are offered annually. In addition to the scholarships, the Services Group provides financial assistance for students and an academic advisor to attend the annual ISM conference by subsidizing conference fees and portions of travel expenses. ISM also provides annual membership to the organization to full time students and waives the membership fee.

New Jersey CSCM Student Award (NJ Industry Award)

The CSCMP-NJ Roundtable offers scholarships each year to Rutgers Business School's undergraduate, MBA and Ph.D. students concentrating in Supply Chain Management.

 

R. Gene Richter Scholarship

The following is an announcement from the most recent scholarship, but this typically is an annual scholarship.  “The Institute for Supply Management™ (ISM) is pleased to work with the R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in the promotion of the R. Gene Richter Scholarship Program. The R. Gene and Nancy D. Richter Foundation in partnership with the ISM R. Gene Richter Scholarship Fund will provide scholarships of up to $5,000 U.S. dollars to individuals seeking education in the area of supply management or supply chain management for the 2011-2012 academic year.  Eligible students will be in their senior year during the 2011-2012 academic year with a graduation date of December 2011 or April/May 2012. Students must be enrolled full time in an accredited supply management program with the intention of specializing in the supply management profession. Scholarship recipients will be chosen based on outstanding academic achievement, high ethical standards, and potential to become a future leader in the supply management field.”  R. Supply Chain Advisory Board Scholarship

Each year, the Center’s Advisory Board grants scholarships to MBA students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to the field of supply chain management.  Interested students must write a 1-2 page essay outlining academic achievement, contributions to the Rutgers supply chain management program and future career goals.  

 

Supply Chain Leadership Award

The Center for Supply Chain Management honors students who have demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication to supply chain management during their academic careers.  Recipients are selected based on academic merit, contribution to the Rutgers supply chain management program, and the recommendation of faculty members.
