Student Case Competition

The Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management holds an annual case competition for MBA students from prestigious Northeast region schools. Past participants included:

      • Rutgers Business School (Rutgers University)
      • College of Engineering (New Jersey Institute of Technology)
      • Martin J.Whitman School of Management (Syracuse University)
      • P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science (Lehigh University)

The students competed in front of a panel of industry judges from companies including DP&C Enterprises, L’Oreal USA, MetLife, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, PSE&G, Schering-Plough and Schindler Elevator Corporation. The panel judged the students on analysis of critical business issues, quality of solutions, articulation of ideas, presentation style and responses to judges’ questions.

The next annual case competition will take place again in the Spring 2010 semester. Last year’s winning team (pictured below) was from Rutgers Business School and included MBA students Som-Ming Leung, Ishma Sharma, Sarika Tandon, and Li Yin.

Recent Events

Roundtable on Supply Chain Disruptions and Business Continuity Planning

On November 10, 2009, the Rutgers Center for Supply Chain Management held a members only roundtable seminar on Supply Chain Disruptions and Business Continuity Planning. The seminar took place at the Rutgers Busch Campus and began with a presentation on preparing for supply chain disruptions, business continuity, with a specific focus on the H1N1 flu. Attendees then broke into three groups to brainstorm and share common preparation practices. Finally the entire group gathered for an open discussion to share and discuss each groups’ insights and best practices.
