Anthony McKenzie (EMBA 2003) is the Director & Panama Site Lead, Global Commercial Sales Operations for Dell, Inc.

I chose the Rutgers EMBA program because I believed that it represented the best value in the marketplace for an advanced business education in the Tri-State area. Before making my decision, I considered other schools including NYU, Cornell and Harvard, and Rutgers floated to the top when I considered criteria such as the quality of the staff, level of attention provided to the students, acceptance requirements, the breadth of knowledge, experience and expertise represented in each class, and real word applicability derived from the teaching process. The Rutgers EMBA program was the best fit for my family life and career aspirations and I believed it offered me the best opportunity for a life changing experience without the excessive cost of many other business schools.

The program’s educational approach enabled me to become a better business and team leader. We were afforded the opportunity to work with some of the best professors in their fields and develop innovative approaches to solve real world problems, which we were immediately able to apply at work.

The program also significantly changed my career trajectory. My background was in retail store operations, working for companies that included Macy’s, Sears, Radio Shack, Woolworth and Kings Supermarkets. While in the program, I was recruited by Dell and began my career in the technology industry, where I’ve had the opportunity to gain experience in Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance, rising through the ranks to become an Executive Officer of the company. What I learned at Rutgers directly enabled me to make a positive impact in every role and business that I’ve run, affording me a continuous stream of experiences to grow my capabilities while increasing my impact on the business.
