I believe the Rutgers EMBA program is far superior to a traditional MBA program. Prior to enrolling, I had been working on my degree at night, one class at a time. It was very dry and one-dimensional.

The EMBA program, although intense, really took my understanding of business to a new level. I had good experience with functional strategy in my work, and I wanted to be able to tie it into corporate strategy—an area where, at that point, I’d had less exposure.

The program afforded me a necessary knowledge of cross function—and the broad spectrum of students was so important in the process. My experience until then was limited to the pharmaceutical industry, and my classmates came from backgrounds in banking, construction, hospitals, and public service. It allowed me to look beyond my narrow range of vision to learn from both the curriculum and different business worlds.

The coverage of organizational development and international trade was great; the marketing and finance classes were so helpful. I would say that more than two-thirds of the classes I took in the program truly had a significant impact on me.

Overall, the heart and soul the faculty puts into the EMBA program is an important  distinction. The teachers all approach their classes with genuine enthusiasm about the topic. As a result, each class has a strong personality, which enriches the entire experience. It is a great intellectual exercise.
