Bringing EMBA Teachings to Life
Nancy Papciak had a distinct feeling of déjà vu while touring a large semiconductor plant during her EMBA trip to China. The head of the plant’s production floor talked about the process changes in his company and industry—an exact topic Papciak and her classmates had discussed earlier in the year in their macroeconomics and microeconomics classes.
“It literally brought the teachings of the EMBA program to life,” she said. “I certainly appreciate the extraordinary value of having my feet on the ground in an environment so vastly different than the one that I know.”
As the director of training for Global Pharmaceutical Supply Group, a division of Johnson & Johnson, Papciak took particular interest in learning about establishing an operating unit in China. “It was interesting to observe and think about the challenges of doing business there,” she said.
The trip to China enabled Papciak to appreciate the diversity of what she’s learned both in her career and at Rutgers. “The program knits it all together, and the China trip was a key to helping me examine what I’ve learned on a higher level. It was a tremendous life experience.
