REMBA Alum: Robert Church
Vice President of Patient Care Services and Operations for SBH Health Systems in the Bronx and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives
Robert Church (EMBA 2011) is the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Operations for SBH Health Systems in the Bronx. He is responsible for the clinical operations, finances, regulatory compliance, and patients’ experiences for all the Emergency Department and Trauma Service, Medical, Surgical, Obstetrical, Maternity & Pediatric, and Behavioral Health Services. He is also responsible for Infection Control, Environmental Services, and Physical and Occupational Therapy Services.
Prior to coming to the Rutgers EMBA program, I already had a Master’s of Science in Trauma/Critical Care Nursing, and worked in non-profit healthcare organizations as a clinician and manager. I chose the Rutgers EMBA program because it was focused on Strategy, Finance and Marketing, which are skills COO's and CEO's of healthcare organizations need. I made my final decision after interviewing with Farrokh Langdana, the Director of the program. I appreciated his style, the organization of the program and that not everyone in the program had to be a mathematics genius. The program taught me how to think of things strategically, and with a sound financial approach. All hospitals want to provide the best quality care, but if they can’t do that in a cost effective, profitable way, they will not remain open and able fulfill their mission.
