Todd Brock (EMBA 2004) is the Vice President General Manager Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Anzd at Clorox.
With a background in Sales for three large consumer products companies, I felt that the EMBA program helped me better understand how all of the functions of a given company come together to create value. The EMBA Program gave me a solid foundation in all the other functions of the corporation, better preparing me to think with a GM mindset. This has made a huge difference in how I make business decisions.
A defining moment came when I met with executives from Schlumberger in Brussels. It was inspirational listening to them talk about how they rely on their corporate values and principles, global processes and best practices in their daily decision making. It is intriguing that they are able to deliver value anywhere in the work with this model. I’ve taken this learning and apply it to my work outside the U.S. each and every day. I have a broader understanding of what it looks like to deliver value to the corporation versus just delivering the sales number and deliverables. The Rutgers EMBA program also helped prepare me for the tasks at hand and the responsibilities that I have been given since I graduated.
