Dr. Pallavi Shukla is Assistant Professor of Professional Practice in the Department of Management & Global Business at Rutgers Business School – Newark and New Brunswick. She received her Ph.D. in International Business from Rutgers University. Dr. Shukla’s research interests lie at the intersection of the global strategy, migration and institutions literature streams. She examines the role of migrants in bridging locations across borders using a socio-economic theoretical lens. She is especially interested in investigating how migrants and their institutions affect the foreign direct investment strategies of multinational firms. Over the years, she has presented her research at many outlets including the Academy of Management, the Academy of International Business, DRUID, and the iBEGIN conference.

Before coming to academia, she worked in the financial services industry for over a decade in New York City and India. She has held various positions ranging from software engineer and technical lead, to Associate Director in the Information Technology domain. During this time, she worked on numerous projects for several firms including the National Stock Exchange of India, Tata Consultancy Services, Bear Stearns and JP Morgan.

Dr. Shukla teaches International Business, Business Policy and Strategy, and Global Management Strategy at Rutgers Business School - Newark and New Brunswick. She can be reached via email at
