Student Requirements: Flex MBA

The MBA Office of Career Management (OCM) provides career services and resources to Flex MBA students who meet the following requirements:

Step 1: Registration: 30-Credit Requirement

  • Flex MBA students must complete 30 credits and be free of any contractual employment obligations before registering with the MBA Office of Career Management. To register, complete a Code of Conduct Agreement and fax to 973-353-1400 or e-mail to mbamail@business.rutgers.edu AND complete an initial profile in our online career management system, Symplicity. Make certain to verify your e-mail address when contacted by Symplicity.

Step 2: Resume and Cover Letters:

All documents uploaded in Symplicity will be approved by the OCM. Your resume and cover letters must be in the RBS Resume Format and RBS Cover Letter Format, which can be found in the Document Library in Symplicity.

  • Resume: Submit resume for review or request an appointment with a Career Management Specialist.
  • Cover Letters: Once you have written a cover letter for a particular position, you may have a Career Management Specialist review it via e-mail or in person. When requesting an appointment indicate your availability for a two-week period. Generic cover letters are not reviewed or approved.

Step 3: Mock Interview:

  • Arrange a mock interview with a Career Management Specialist by e-mailing your availability for a two-week period. You will then be contacted with a date and time.

OCM Policies

  • No-Show Policy: Students must attend OCM events for which they have registered. A no-show must be followed by a written explanation describing the personal or medical emergency that prevented attendance; no explanation will result in de-activation of Symplicity account.
  • OCM Lateness Policy: Students arriving late to an OCM event will not be admitted. Students who arrive late for two events will not be permitted to attend other OCM events; their Symplicity account may be de-activated as well.
  • Reporting Offers: MBA students must inform the OCM of their job search status—i.e., whether you have accepted an offer, still seeking opportunities, or not seeking opportunities—by completing the MBA Employment Survey in Symplicity. Only aggregate statistical data are reported; individual information is strictly confidential. Note: Students who do not return a completed Survey will lose access to Symplicity and will not receive a Commencement Packet for graduation.
