In Memoriam: Horace DePodwin

Thursday, October 7, 2010

The RBS community grieves the loss of Horace DePodwin, Dean of Rutgers Business School from 1966 to 1982, who passed away on October 5, 2010. Horace was both a visionary leader and fatherly mentor who transformed the school from one with a small, dedicated faculty and Newark-based MBA and Professional Accounting programs into the nationally-recognized, research-oriented Graduate School of Management, offering MBA programs in both Newark and New Brunswick, and Executive MBA and Ph.D. degrees. Following his retirement, Horace continued his active involvement with the school, and he will be fondly remembered by a generation of scholars, teachers, staff, and students, whose lives he touched.

A memorial service is planned for next Wednesday, October 13, at 11 am at the Wyoming Presbyterian Church, 432 Wyoming Avenue, Millburn, NJ 07041 (973-376-3066).

For those wishing to make a donation in Horace's memory to the Horace DePodwin Scholarship Fund, checks payable to Rutgers University Foundation may be sent to Terri Suarez, RBS Development Office, One Washington Park, Newark, NJ 07102 (973)-353-5645. Your condolences can be sent to Horace's wife Carolyn and their children at 718 Arbor View, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444
