Announcement of winners of the Junior Faculty Research and Teaching Awards and CIMIC Research Award for Ph.D. Students

RBS congratulates the 2009 winners of the Junior Faculty Research and Teaching Awards and CIMIC Research Award 2009 Junior Faculty Teaching AwardThe recipient of the 2009 Junior Faculty Teaching Award is Yoel Beniluz, Assistant Professor of Accounting, Business Ethics, & Information Systems. This award is in recognition of a junior faculty member who has demonstrated outstanding teaching quality and innovation in content and methodology. In the depth and breadth of his teaching activities, Yoel has distinguished himself in an exceptional way.The finalist for this prestigious award is Sengun Yeniyurt, Assistant Professor, Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences. Like Yoel, Sengun has made teaching effectiveness a critical component of his career development, and this made the committee’s decision an extremely difficult one.2009 Junior Faculty Research AwardThe recipient of the 2009 Junior Faculty Research Award is Jaideep Vaidya, Assistant Professor of Management Science & Information Systems. This award is funded by the generosity of Professor Fariborz Damanpour and the Center for Information Management Integration and Connectivity (CIMIC), directed by Professor Nabil Adam. It is given to one untenured faculty member each year based upon his or her research contributions, as manifested by publications and continuing research activity, citations, leadership in the profession, and additional evidence of impact. The finalists for this prestigious award are:Stevie Watson, Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences; Valentin Dimitrov, Accounting, Business Ethics & Information Systems; Xiaowei Xu, Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences, and Sengun Yeniyurt, Supply Chain Management & Marketing Sciences. 2009 CIMIC Research Award for Ph.D. in Management StudentThe recipient of this prestigious award is Ari Yezegel, Ph.D. in Management Student is the 2009 recipient of the CIMIC Research Award. Mr. Yezegel’s research is in the area of financial analysis, the accruals anomaly, value relevance of accounting and international finance. He has eight publications that have appeared or are forthcoming in top journals. He is currently completing his dissertation under the guidance of Professor Dan Palmon, Accounting Business Ethics & Information Systems. The finalists for this prestigious award are Ms. Pooja Thakur, who is working under the guidance of Professor Farok Contractor of the Department of Management & Global Business; Ms. Wenjun Zhou, who is working under the guidance of Professor Hui Xiong of the Department of Management Science & Information Systems; Ms. Danielle Lombardi, who is working under the guidance of Professor Miklos Vasarhelyi of the Department of Accounting, Business Ethics, & Information Systems; and Mr. Sungyong Choi, who is working under the guidance of Professor Andrzej Ruszczynski of the Department of Management Science & Information Systems.
