Assistant Professor of Professional Practice
Dr. Merav Ozair is a data scientist, a quant strategist and a Crypto/Blockchain expert. She has in-depth knowledge and experience in global financial markets and its market microstructure. Currently, Dr. Ozair applies her unique expertise to researching and investigating Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and Blockchain ecosystem, digital assets, crypto markets and the evolving Decentralized Finance (DeFi) space. In particular, she has been developing innovative methodologies to evaluate digital assets and crypto markets, including cryptocurrency indexes, valuation metrics, ratings and tokenized products, and researching various DeFi solutions.
Dr. Ozair is a FinTech Faculty member at the Rutgers Business School (RBS). At RBS she has developed and teaches courses on blockchain and digital assets for both undergrads and graduate level, including a quantitative blockchain and cryptocurrency course for the Master’s in Quantitative Finance (MQF). She serves as an Advisor and Researcher at the Rutgers Blockchain and FinTech Collaboratory (run by the Rutgers Law School); and is an Affiliated professor at the Rutgers Law School, Co-teaching with Professor Yuliya Guseva, a course on “Financial Regulation and Innovation”, focusing on FinTech and DeFi.
Dr. Ozair conducts workshops for financial professionals on quantitative investment strategies and volatility modeling, at CFANY (formerly New York Society of Security Analysts (NYSSA)), and; webinars for Market Technicians Association (MTA), and for Professional Risk Management International Association (PRMIA), and; recently at Global Financial Markets Institute (GFMI) on Blockchain and Digital Assets.
Dr. Ozair is the Editor-in-Chief of the World Scientific Series in FinTech at World Scientific Publishing (WSP), and is writing a series of books on Blockchain, Cryptocurrency and DeFi for WSP.
She serves as an Advisory Board member on EQM Indexes – Blockchain Index Committee (ETF ticket: BLOK) and holds a PhD from Stern Business School at NYU.
