Breakthrough Business Thinking: Can a gutsy move to save gophers during a military assignment inspire and help shape a civilian career path?

Tuesday, July 18, 2017

Our military has its own culture, language, and expected way of conducting one’s self at work.  Consequently, there is a transition that occurs when veterans leave the military and re-enter the civilian workforce.   Recently our Rutgers Business School Executive Education team spoke with Dr. Kevin Lyons.  Dr. Lyons is an Associate Professor of Professional Practice at Rutgers Business School and an Air Force Veteran. Lyons also serves as director of the Rutgers Business School Public Private Community Partnership and leads an engaging session in our Mini-MBATM: Business Management for Military and Veterans program.  In this video, we discuss Dr. Lyons’ challenging first assignment in the Air Force and how his radical and innovative solution to save the gopher population led to a rewarding post-military career path.
