About New Jersey Small Business Development Center @ Rutgers-Newark
Our service delivery is guided by the principles that our Clients: (a) receive the right service in a timely and professional manner; (b) acquire the necessary business skills to enable them to become self-sufficient entrepreneurs and competent business managers; and (c) establish successful, long term businesses that will enhance their economic quality of life as well as their communities. New Jersey Small Business Development Center @ Rutgers-Newark is located at 25 James Street, in Newark, NJ 07102. The Center is an affiliate of the Rutgers Business School-Newark & New Brunswick as well as the NJSBDC network, a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization.
The mission of the New Jersey Small Business Development Center @ Rutgers-Newark is to help entrepreneurs and business owners start and grow sustainable, successful small business through the delivery of appropriate training and technical assistance services and programs.
Steps to accessing NJSBDC @ R-N Services
Start-up and Established businesses can access NJSBDC @ R-N services in 3 ways:
- By completing the Request for Counseling (RFC) form
- By sending email to: firstname.lastname@example.org
- By telephone to our main number: 973-353-5950
All clients are required to have a signed RFC on file before services can be offered. This is nationwide SBA-SBDC policy. Client who complete the electronic RFC endorse the form by clicking “submit” and this is considered a valid signature of acceptance of conditions of service, therefore client are encouraged to use this as the best and most expedient form of accessing services. Once a signed or e-RFC is received client will be directed to the next appropriate stage of business services based on their level of business establishment or maturity. All prospective entrepreneurs and start-ups are required to attend the Entrepreneurs’ Q&A session offered on Wednesdays 10am-12noon or 4-6pm (check our website for schedule). Please call for exact time for the week. There is a $10.00 per person fee to attend, however preregistration is required since a maximum of 10 businesses can be facilitated for each session.
