Rutgers Entrepreneurial Society (RES)

Our Vision

The Rutgers Entrepreneurial Society (RES) is looking to create a sustainable and supportive startup community here at Rutgers. There are many students passionate about entrepreneurship who either have their own businesses or plan to make one in the future. We are scheduling both speaker events and workshops to help these students attain the skills and connections necessary to create a successful business. We aim to bring together everyone interested in entrepreneurship so they can share knowledge, connections, and practical expertise. We know that Rutgers University has the potential to become New Jersey’s largest startup hub, and it is our goal to make it happen.

About us

The Rutgers Entrepreneurial Society is the premier entrepreneurship club at Rutgers New Brunswick. We are open to everyone interested in entrepreneurship whether they are just curious about the possibilities or currently operating businesses of their own. We host events designed to increase the entrepreneurial acumen, network, and general knowledge base of all of our members.

Spring 2015

The events we are focusing on for next semester (Spring 2015) include a speaker series, workshops (both for personal and professional development), a weekend long startup event, and networking opportunities. The speakers presenting at the series will all be successful entrepreneurs in a wide variety of fields, many of whom have started multiple businesses. The workshops will be based on subjects that are quintessential for success, such as team management, scalability, and market validation. We are in the process of planning a weekend long startup event for next semester, although these plans are tentative, the idea behind weekend long events like this is to build a business in just three days. This is an invaluable experience for entrepreneurs as they will be able to speak to mentors, network with other like-minded students and professionals, and learn how to build a business. Every one of our events will be excellent networking opportunities, but we are also planning to host events specifically dedicated to networking because being well connected is extremely important. Aside from our events we will also be hosting member meetups every two weeks to help facilitate entrepreneurial discussions. These Meetups (like most of our events) will be super informal and focused on a specific discussion topic (e.g., relevant news, pitch/idea feedback, etc.).
