*Please Note: Students should form their own teams of 5 students and e-mail to Professor Toncre by Sunday, November 1st: All team member resumes and a team statement of 250-300 words as to why your team should be selected to participate in this competition.  Teams selected to participate will be notified by Monday, November 2nd, 2015.

THE (RBS) APPRENTICE provides Rutgers Business School students with hands-on experience in marketing, finance, leadership, and team skills in the business of sports.

In the spirit of “The Apprentice,” four final teams will compete in creating and implementing marketing plans to drive fan attendance at Rutgers Women’s Basketball games.  Teams will meet with RU Athletics Senior Leadership and the RU Women’s Basketball Team and Coaching Staff and will attend RU Women’s Basketball practice sessions/games to learn further about the organization and the current mission.  Teams will be given a financial budget to be used to execute their marketing plans.  The competition will include two rounds (two games, two marketing plans) and will run from November, 2015 through March, 2016.  Each team will present its marketing plans and results to a panel of judges and will compete for a grand prize of $5000.  Each student of the winning team will receive $1000.

All team members must commit to attending:

  1. Meeting #1: Wednesday, November 4, 2015 (6 pm – 9 pm) at RBS: RU Athletics & RBS
  2. Meeting #2: Friday, November 6, 2015 (12:15 pm – 2 pm) at the RAC: Women’s Basketball Team
  3. Meeting #3: Follow Up Q&A with Women’s Basketball Team: Friday, November 20, 2015 (1 pm – 2 pm) at the RAC
  4. Game 1: Saturday, January 30, 2016: RU vs. Nebraska  (2 pm)
  5. Meeting #4: Tuesday, February 2, 2016 (6 pm – 8 pm) at RBS
  6. Game 2: Sunday, February 28, 2016: RU vs. Michigan (Time TBD)
  7. Presentations and Awards Dinner: Wednesday, March 9, 2016 (6 pm – 9 pm) at RBS
