Two professors are creating computer models for U.S. Homeland Security

Research aims to improve operational efficiencies at busy U.S. border crossings

Supply chain management professors Benjamin Melamed and Weiwei Chen are applying their expertise in modeling and service chain optimization to carry out a unique project for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. By modeling port-of-entry operations, they are creating an  in vitro laboratory for how Homeland Security can deploy its resources more efficiently under different conditions to improve border crossing operations.
