The Rutgers Business School Master of Accountancy in Accounting and Analytics program addresses the immediate needs of today’s market with a relevant and innovative curriculum. Analytics and AI technologies are combined with accounting coursework to ensure graduates are competitive candidates for the evolving careers in accounting. This degree has the added benefit of a STEM designation and satisfies the requirements for the CPA.
It has three course options and is available to complete either online or in person. All three options provide the knowledge and skills required to apply AI tools and techniques in accounting practices, enabling you to make data-driven decisions, enhance efficiency, and improve financial reporting processes desired by employers.
- Option A: Accounting undergraduate students
- Option B: Non-accounting business undergraduates
- Option C*: Specialization in AI for accounting undergraduate students
*Non-accounting business undergraduates can take this option but will not be eligible for the CPA.

In 2024, the CPA exam will change. Approved by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the new CPA licensure model will have a mandatory core exam and require one of the following specialized areas:
- Business reporting and analysis
- Information systems and controls
- Tax compliance and planning
The MACC Accounting and Analytics program prepares students for the CPA evolution. Through our electives and core curriculum, this degree will ensure that you have the tools, resources, and knowledge to be ready for the evolution of the CPA.

STEM-Designated Program
The Master of Accountancy in Accounting and Analytics program qualifies as a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) for international students who are considering Optional Practical Training (OPT). In order to qualify for STEM, half of your courses must come from STEM courses. Enrollment in a STEM program may qualify you for a 36-month OPT which allows you to work in the US in a job related to your field of study during the program or after graduation.
