Nikolaos Georgikopoulos

Nikolaos Georgikopoulos served for twelve years as a Visiting Research Professor at the NYU Stern School of Business (IOMS, later renamed the TOPS Department) and was also Professor of Financial Mathematics at the STORM Research Centre of London Metropolitan University (UK). He holds a PhD in Finance from Imperial College London, an MSc from the University of Oxford, a Diploma in Quantitative Finance from Imperial College London, and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece).

His professional roles span both Greece and the United Kingdom. In Greece, he serves as Chair of the Remuneration, Benefits and Board Nomination Committee at the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB) and as Scientific Adviser on Development Policy to the Mayor of Penteli. He has also held advisory positions with regional and national authorities, including the Attica Region, the Ministry of Development and Investments (RRF matters), the Central Bank of Greece, and several municipalities. In London, he has been a Senior Financial Adviser at KT & SS Ltd since 2017 and previously served as an Economic Adviser at Hopscotch Ltd.

From 2007 to 2016, he worked at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research (KEPE), Greece’s leading economic think tank, where he focused on applied economic analysis, macroeconomic monitoring, and policy oriented studies for the Greek government. His work included coordinating major research assignments for ministries, Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Economic Office, and international corporations on topics such as investment opportunities, financing mechanisms, electronic payments, and illicit trade. Earlier in his career, he spent fifteen years in London and New York as a financial adviser, banking professional, researcher, and university lecturer.

He has published in academic journals, contributed to books and policy studies, and written for international financial media. He has also participated as a keynote speaker and panelist in numerous scientific conferences. His current interests include business advisory, financial risk management, banking management, quantitative finance, and investments.
