Jim Littley

Jim Littley is an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice at Rutgers Business School within the Department of Accounting & Information Systems, teaching graduate courses including Emerging Technologies in Accounting & Auditing, Intelligent Automation in Accounting & Auditing, and Audit Analytics (graduate and undergraduate). His teaching area of focus includes the use of Generative and Agentic AI and leading practice low code/no code software, and related technologies, for data analytics, visual analytics, process mining, intelligent automation, and agentic automation in accounting, auditing, regulatory compliance, and forensic accounting investigations applications.  Jim has been a Lecturer at Rutgers Business School since 2018.

Jim’s teaching philosophy is to be a lifelong learner and believes that an experiential learning approach, particularly as it relates to the application of advanced technologies, is the most effective teaching method. His areas of research include generative and agentic artificial intelligence, data and visual analytics, applied process mining, and intelligent automation in practitioner-based auditing and forensic accounting investigations applications.

Jim is a retired Advisory Services Partner in KPMG’s Risk Consulting practice. He was KPMG’s Global and Americas leader for Continuous Auditing & Continuous Monitoring Services and the U.S. leader for Internal Audit Data & Analytics and Intelligent Automation services. Jim has over 30 years of experience providing advisory services to clients in the areas of risk assessments, internal auditing, forensic investigations, regulatory compliance, contract compliance, data analytics, intelligent automation, and continuous auditing and continuous monitoring across a variety of industries.
