About the Program
Rutgers-Newark Institute at Northeast Normal University (abbreviated as Rutgers-Newark Institute), officially approved by the Ministry of Education of China in 2015, is a non-independent, Sino-foreign cooperative education institution jointly established by Northeast Normal University and Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, USA.
The establishment of Rutgers-Newark Institute through the partnership between Northeast Normal University and Rutgers University serves three major purposes.
- First, to introduce high-quality international higher education resources, improve the quality of talent cultivation, and cultivate high-end management talents for national economic and social development.
- Second, to boost the development of application-oriented disciplines and the overall capacity of faculty via the cooperative platform, and enhance the university’s international competitiveness and influence in academic research and talent cultivation in relevant fields.
- Third, guided by the exemplary role of Rutgers-Newark Institute, to continuously reform the management system and mechanism of education and teaching, and innovate instructional models and methods.

Training Models
The Institute offers three international talent training pathways: 4+0, 3+1, and 2+2.
“4+0”模式：(4+0 Model)
学生在东北师范大学学习四年，达到毕业要求和学位授予条件者，将获得东北师范大学毕业证书和学位证书。
Students study for four full years at Northeast Normal University. Those who meet graduation and degree conferral requirements will be awarded a graduation certificate and a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Normal University.
“3+1”模式：(3+1 Model)
学生在东北师范大学学习三年、罗格斯大学学习一年，达到两校毕业要求和学位授予条件者，将获得东北师范大学毕业证书、学位证书以及罗格斯大学学位证书。
Students complete three years of study at Northeast Normal University and one year at Rutgers University. Upon satisfying the graduation and degree criteria of both universities, students will receive a graduation certificate and a degree from Northeast Normal University, as well as a degree from Rutgers University.
“2+2”模式：(2+2 Model)
学生在东北师范大学学习两年、罗格斯大学学习两年，达到两校毕业要求和学位授予条件者，将获得东北师范大学毕业证书、学位证书以及罗格斯大学学位证书。
Students spend the first two years at Northeast Normal University and the subsequent two years at Rutgers University. Eligible graduates who fulfill the academic requirements of both institutions will be granted a graduation certificate and a degree from Northeast Normal University, together with a degree from Rutgers University.
在东北师范大学就读期间，学费标准为6万元人民币/生•学年。在罗格斯大学就读期间，学费标准按罗格斯大学规定执行。
Tuition fee is RMB 60,000 per student per academic year for study at Northeast Normal University. Tuition for study at Rutgers University shall be subject to the university’s official regulations.
