The annual Business Community Engagement Symposium at Rutgers offers a variety of expertise to business owners.

Rutgers symposium will offer solutions to businesses trying to weather change and uncertainty

Rutgers Business School’s annual Business Community Engagement Symposium will tackle issues and questions resulting from the pandemic and the current wave of economic uncertainty in a day-long series of discussions and workshops on Wednesday, Nov. 9 [Register].

Business owners will learn about resources available to help improve their companies, including the ability to work with Rutgers professors and students to help solve their business problems.

The theme of the symposium is “Migrating Through a Changing Economy.” It will be held Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Rutgers Business School in Newark. The event is presented by New Jersey Small Business Development Centers (NJSBDC) or America’s SBDC New Jersey, which operates from Rutgers Business School in Newark and in Piscataway.

Len Green, founder and chairman of the Green Group, will be the keynote speaker. The Green Group brings an entrepreneurial perspective to its advising business. Green, a Rutgers MBA alumnus, is also a certified public accountant.

This year’s program also includes panels of experts who will discuss supply chain concerns, resources to help secure capital, pointers on cultivating the best teams for business today and information for diverse business owners about obtaining procurement certification as a way of growing their companies.

“The pandemic presented a myriad of hurdles that businesses of every industry had to address,” said Kelly Brozyna, NJSBDC CEO and state director. “Whether it’s inflation, supply chain issues, or adopting remote work solutions for staff, today’s businesses are facing significant challenges that they must overcome in order to not only succeed but to stay in business over the next three years.

“We all want them to succeed, and this year’s program will give businesses the strategies, tactics, resources, and support needed to do just that,” Brozyna said.  

The Business Community Engagement Symposium marks its seventh year of bringing together high-caliber industry leaders and experts to share their experiences and strategies while facilitating a more vital collaboration among higher education, government, private corporations, and entrepreneurs.

Attendees also will be able to take advantage of on-site business counseling and build their networks. Refreshments will be available during the symposium.

Social impact is a strategic goal for Rutgers Business School, and the Business Community Engagement Symposium was created to harness the knowledge and expertise within Rutgers to help foster impactful economic development in Newark and New Brunswick. The NJSBDC adds an additional layer of insights to the program as its daily mission is to serve the local business communities and entrepreneurs with one-to-one consulting and comprehensive training programs.
